Our Mission

The New York State Society of Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery (NYSSDDS) is the only statewide membership medical society comprised of Board Certified Dermatologists who practice primarily in the state of State of New York.

Established in 1974, the purpose of the Society is to maintain a compact and representative group to consider, agree and act in unison upon any and all matters affecting the practice of dermatology, including:

  •  To express the ideals and encourage the personal and professional development of the practice of dermatology.

  • To elevate the standards of integrity, honor and courtesy in the relationship of dermatology with other specialties in medicine.

  • To foster the economic, social and scientific aspects of the specialty of dermatology.

  • To advance communications with governmental and private agencies, as well as with the public in general, in regard to actions that may affect the interests of dermatologists in order to present studies, reports and recommendations together with the resolutions and opinions of its members to these groups.

  • To disseminate information concerning the practice of dermatology.

  • To develop standards, codes, guidelines to be used in the practice of dermatology.

  • To protect the interests of the public and the dermatologist as it pertains to the practice of dermatology.
